      REPORTS TO: CAMINOS Program Supervisor

      FLSA STATUS: 1.0 FTE Exempt, Union Position

      COMPENSATION: Licensed $70,734.92; Master’s Level $60,617.80; Non- Master 2nd year $53,040.00 (Plus bi-lingual differential)

      POSITION OVERVIEW:

      We have an exciting Full-Time opportunity for a well-qualified Clinician working in the Unaccompanied Immigrant Youth Care Team. This program provides prevention and early intervention services to the unaccompanied immigrant youth (Caminos) in Alameda County-including the cities of Oakland and Hayward. La Familia proposes linguistically appropriate (Spanish) and culturally sensitive mental health services, specializing in trauma-focused and family-oriented treatment.

      INTENT:

      • Increase access to culturally relevant, strength-based Outreach, Education, and Early Intervention services for UIY in Alameda County in order to build the resiliency, knowledge, and practical skills that can contribute to the prevention of mental and behavioral health disorders due to severe violence in their countries of origin. Although the majority of UIY come from Central America, this program can serve Caminos from any country.
      • Build the capacity of organizations that can provide culturally-responsive services, to the UIY population and integrate culturally relevant wellness strategies into their services and/or identify mental and behavioral health disorders amongst those they serve and provide linkages to appropriate services.
      • Provide access to county-based mental health services for UIY, when treatment is warranted and desired. These services will demonstrate a concentration on trauma-focused and family-oriented treatment.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

      • Clinician will provide therapeutic services which shall increase youth access and engagement; services will be provided primarily at schools and sometimes in the community and in the home.
      • Clinician will work closely with the UIY Program Supervisor and Program Coordinator who lead and coordinate the work of the UIY Care Team.
      • Clinician will be a part of the Caminos (UIYCT) which will consist of the Caminos Care Team Coordinator, Caminos Program Supervisor, Caminos Lead Case Manager, and other Clinicians/Case Managers who will serve schools (identified by greatest need by County and/or School District) and La Familia offices to meet the mental health needs of their students. In collaboration with designated school staff referrals, the Caminos Care Team will conduct screening and psychosocial assessments to recommend treatment for mental health and social services as needed.
      • Clinician will participate in regular clinical supervision provided by the Program Supervisor. The Clinician will also participate in regular group supervision and training as scheduled by the Program Care Team Coordinator and the Supervisor.
      • The team will offer training, consultations, and conduct school-wide assessments to cater their interventions to the needs of each participating school. If needed, treatment for students would be provided at the team’s community locations (e.g.., schools, and various offices of La Familia, or health clinics).
      • Clinicians, as part of the Care Team, will spend time both in schools and office sites based on program needs as identified by the County and/or School District. The Caminos Care Team will, however, be immediately available to travel to any of the schools to assist with crises, regardless of the particular school placement on that date.
      • Referrals are made through various sources such as the district Caminos coordinators, the Caminos Care Team Coordinator, or other Caminos Care Team members. All referrals should go through COST in order to keep a uniform way of tracking UIY student services. The Clinician shall provide mental health and crisis intervention services to alleviate the psychological symptoms exhibited by unaccompanied immigrant youth.
      • The Clinician will provide group interventions on topics relevant to UIY such as: Acculturation, Family reunification, Grief and Loss, Self-Esteem, and Healthy Relationships.
      • The Clinician will provide short-term trauma-focused and family-oriented treatment for each UIY for up to 8 sessions, but the length of services may be extended for up to one year if deemed clinically appropriate.
      • The Clinician will receive appropriate training and supervision to ensure the highest quality of services, and use of evidence-based practices.
      • Collect and provide to La Familia, on a weekly basis, client level and service level data that is required by ACBHCS and/or La Familia for tracking and evaluation purposes.

      Qualifications


      REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

      • Master’s degree in social work, psychology or related field, and registration with the California BBS plus 2 years of experience providing mental health services, consultation, and psycho-education training to the Latino community;
      • Knowledge of schools and experience working with a variety of systems located in the learning environment preferred;
      • Bilingual Spanish/English required, bicultural preferred;
      • Must be committed to addressing issues of stigma and discrimination related to unaccompanied children and their social, environmental, immigration status, and caregiver issues;
      • Strong consultation, presentation, and organizational skills required;
      • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills essential;
      • Ability to work as part of a team and the capacity to be flexible, as needs and special events arise;
      • Able to take initiative, work independently, and able to think critically when problem-solving; Knowledge of, and respect for, a variety of distinct Latino communities in Alameda County;
      • Knowledge of integrating cultural wellness practices into direct service delivery;
      • Ability to pass a background clearance and clear TB Test.
      • Valid CA Driver’s license
