Departments hiring at SSGA
- As a Research Analyst Intern, you will work on research projects seeking to improve return and risk forecasting models, enhance portfolio construction and risk management processes, develop new investment strategies and/or pursue green field investment ideas. Some roles will be oriented towards candidates with interests and qualifications for quantitative research, while other Research Analyst Intern positions will be more fundamentally-focused.
- As a Trading Desk Intern, you will support traders in one or more of the following areas: Equity markets in North and South America, Futures and other derivatives and Foreign Exchange trading. Additional work focuses on projects around regulatory changes, transaction cost analysis, and internal and external marketing materials.
- As an ESG Intern, you will support our equity stewardship activities. You will work closely with our Portfolio Management, Portfolio Strategists and ESG Strategy teams.
- As an Sales Intern, you will have opportunity to learn about a variety of functions in the asset management business and specifically involves supporting key business development functions and project management in partnership with key stakeholders across Sales Leadership, the Head of Institutional, Marketing, CRM, Product and Investments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates irrespective of track of interests should possess or exhibit:
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to execute independently yet also maintain strong team orientation
- Passion for investment management, embrace teamwork, and possess high-end interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
Additional desired qualifications for each internship track are:
Portfolio Management and Portfolio Strategy Roles
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies with a focus in a finance-related discipline, targeting graduation in 2025 (or December 2024)
- Investment management industry experience preferred
- Familiarity with financial software and databases (eg FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar/Ibbotson, eVestment Alliance)
- Well-developed quantitative skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Trading Roles
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies with a focus in a finance-related discipline, targeting graduation in 2025 (or December 2024)
- Investment management industry experience preferred
- Familiarity with financial software and databases (eg FactSet, Bloomberg)
- Well-developed quantitative skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
ESG Roles
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies with a focus in a finance-related discipline, targeting graduation in 2025 (or December 2024)
- Strong interest in the financial markets, ESG-directed investing and investment product strategy
- A problem-solving, strategic mindset, coupled with an ability to pick up complex concepts quickly
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills with an engaging personality
- Hands on orientation, with the willingness to perform detailed tasks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Sales Roles
Role accountability
- Partner with Sales Leadership and Analysts within the Channels to execute on Growth initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies in sales execution, streamlining internal processes, leveraging CRM analytics and industry databases
- Deliver timely reporting to stakeholders on progress, including activities, pipeline and target market
- Prepare and maintain a core inventory of client facing materials for each growth thematic
- Assist in the management of campaigns across departments – sales, marketing, compliance and portfolio management/strategists.

Salary Range:
$15,600 - $58,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
