      Job summary

      Vacancies have arisen for the position of Sterile Services Technician working at the Royal site, cover will also be provided at the County site as required.

      This is a fully flexible job role and shift patterns may be changed at short noticeShift Patterns:

      Predominantly working core shifts of 6:00 - 14:00 (Days) & 14.00 - 22.00 (Twilight) Monday through to Sunday with 1:7 weeks working a 22.00 - 6.00am (Nights). Working every weekend (either Saturday or Sunday) with a day off in the week (mon-fri) to compensate. Cover for all shifts will be arranged on an adhoc basis.

      Saturday working will form a part of the normal working week once fully trained and is incorporated within contracted working hours, and will be between the hours of: 8.00am - 8.00pm

      Sunday working is incorporated within working hours, and will be between 8.00am - 23.30pmOn calland Bank holiday working on rota are essential.Pay scale - Band 2 plus enhancement pay after 8.00pm as per Agenda for Change terms and conditions

      The suitable candidates will be introduced to an environment which will offer them a job which is practical, busy, interesting and which will show them a valuable part of the Health Service for North Staffordshire.

      Main duties of the job

      The Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit services include, the supply and maintenance of surgical instruments including flexible endoscopes used in surgical and medical procedures. These items are checked into the department after use, then they are cleaned, disinfected, packaged, sterilised and delivered back to operating theatres, wards, departments, clinics and GP surgeries.

      Applicants should be educated to GCSE level and have basic computer skills as the position involves daily use of a pc. You will be required to read small letters on instruments and follow written instructions. There will be a short test as part of the interview process and a full tour of the unit will be given. No experience is necessary as we will train you.

      The successful candidate will have high standards, show a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety, and be able to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.
