What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Negotiate and purchase materials and services involving complex engineering and technical requirements
- Administer major procurements with industry partners while ensuring compliance with federal regulations
- Monitor marketplace trends and evaluate new supplier sources for cost-effective procurement
- Provide liaison support between requesting departments and suppliers regarding procurement specifications and delivery
- Develop and maintain procurement reports and assist various departments in proposal development

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Four-year college degree in materials management, business administration, technical, or closely related discipline
- Minimum of six years of technical buying experience involving complex procurements
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications
- Working knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR)
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Materials management certificate desirable
- Experience in total quality management (TQM) and continuous process improvement (CPI)
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards
- Previous experience in training and guiding procurement personnel
- Ability to manage procurement schedules and prioritize assignments effectively
