      The Communications department is seeking a Strategy and Service Manager to lead priority projects and programs; set customer service standards and measures; direct process improvement and evaluation efforts; and govern work management tools for the department. This manager will report to the Communications Deputy Director and supervise a team of project and program managers, collaborating closely with Communications staff and leaders, and interacting with customers, vendors, and other partners.

      The Strategy and Service Manager will be a key driver of the department’s strategic plan to center people, serve with excellence, and advance operations, ensuring responsive, accessible, and innovative county communications that help reduce disparities in our communities. The ideal candidate will be a master of collaborative processes, have an affinity for creating clarity in workflows, be at ease working through complexity with others, and eager to try things to solve problems and achieve best products and services.

      Location and hours:
      This position is hybrid and will be performed on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, and remote as job duties require. This position has a primary schedule of Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with flexibility to respond to business needs on evenings and weekends. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

      In this position, you will:
      • Supervise a team of project and program managers, set priorities for their work and support a collaborative team culture.
      • Lead priority projects and programs for the department, facilitating work across teams to meet stated goals, budgets and timelines.
      • Set customer service standards and measures with department leaders and support staff understanding and success through learning opportunities.
      • Direct process improvement and evaluation efforts aligned to the department’s strategic plan goals and objectives.
      • Govern work management tools and related contracts including for Adobe Workfront, the department’s primary tool for moving work.
      • Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for disparity reduction and workplace inclusion.

      Need to have:
      One of the following:
      • Nine years or more of experience related to organizational operations or programs or a specialty area appropriate to the position.
      • Bachelor's degree in business administration or other field appropriate to the position and five years of experience related to organizational operations or programs or a specialty area appropriate to the position.

      Nice to have:
      • Experience:
        • Supervising people and managing teams.
        • Administering Workfront or similar work management tools.
        • Leading continuous improvement efforts and outcomes.
        • Leading disparity reduction or workplace inclusion initiatives.
        • Supporting customer service and feedback loops.
        • Evaluating product and process effectiveness.
      • Ability to:
        • Listen and communicate effectively, breaking down complex topics when speaking or writing.
        • Think critically, problem-solving with care and diplomacy.
        • Manage timelines and workflows efficiently, showing strong attention to detail.
        • Take initiative, finding even better ways to accomplish tasks and priorities.
        • Collaborate and connect, working well with leaders, customers, vendors, and others.
        • Use a racial equity or disparity reduction lens in daily work.
