      SUMMARY

      Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is looking to hire an architect, engineer or licensed contractor to support structural balcony assessments of commercial properties. Successful candidates will have five years of engineering, architecture, contractor or related experience with SB721 California legislation with a sound understanding of engineering fundamentals and structural design, an understanding of existing construction characteristics, strong technical writing skills, resourcefulness, and a willingness to travel as needed.       RESPONSIBILITES

      • Conduct on-site reconnaissance, interviews, research and review of pertinent documentation to evaluate existing structures and construction plans to assess building vulnerabilities.
      • Perform limited structural calculations for forensic analysis.
      • Problem solve solutions, identify repair recommendations, and generate rough order of magnitude costs of repairs for structural issues identified during assessments.
      • Author structural assessment reports in accordance with Partner standards and industry best practices.
      • Effectively communicate project progress and issues with the Project Manager and maintain communication with team members throughout the course of the project.

      SKILLS AND ABILITIES

      • Must be a self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
      • Must be an enthusiastic, quick learner with a strong desire to grow within the organization
      • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for internal and external (client) communications; technical writing skills are a strong plus
      • Excellent multi-tasking skills in order to effectively complete work on multiple projects concurrently
      • Proven ability to successfully deliver a quality product on time
      • Ability to cultivate strong relationships within a team
      • Proficient with standard business applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Licensed Contractor or Bachelors Degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or related field from an accredited university
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience
      • Experience in the design of wood-framed concrete, steel, and masonry structures
      • Solid understanding of modern buildings codes and seismic provisions
      • A Master Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is desirable
      • Experience with SB721 CA Balcony Inspections is desirable

      COMPENSATION

      Salary range: $80,000 to $110,000. This is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role

      The pay scale for this role considers a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note, the disclosed pay scale estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location where the position may be filled.

      You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive bonus program which is dependent on various factors, including, but not limited to individual and organizational performance.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      • Must be able to read, write, speak & comprehend English
      • Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone
      • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen
      • Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift
      • Requires the ability to climb a ladder
