      We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Support Worker to join the team at HMP Preston, a Category B male prison in Preston city centre with capacity of around 750.

      This is a unique opportunity to join the Substance Misuse Team, where you will offer admin support, as well as be involved directly with patients - helping with group sessions, triaging etc. This is a newly created position, offering a blend of patient facing and non patient facing duties, supporting across the whole service. This would suit someone with experience within Substance Misuse from a community drug team, drug & alcohol service or with prison experience. Hours: This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm. Salary: This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary of £24,669 - £28,690 per annum - depending on experience. How will we support you?

      Main duties of the job

      As our new Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

      • Work within the Substance Misuse Recovery Team - supporting the practitioners with a range of duties
      • Carry out admin duties within the team, including processing referrals
      • Assist with the facilitation of group sessions, working closely with the practitioner leading the group
      • Carry out reception duties - triaging new patients when they first enter the prison
      • Act as a pharmacy second checker on the wings
      • Offer support for the delivery of psychosocial interventions
      • Offer harm reduction advice to patients

      Our new Support Worker will:
      • Have experience within a Substance Misuse role, ideally from the community or a prison setting
      • Have knowledge of Substance Misuse, including drug and alcohol services
      • Any experience in an admin role would be beneficial
      • Be confident - you will be dealing with lots of patient, so excellent communication skills are a must!
