      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Complete suitability assessments by interpreting criminal history and other related documents to evaluate character and competence.
      - Gather information through interviews and research from various records, including court and law enforcement documents.
      - Review and verify information in electronic and hard file records to ensure thorough assessments.
      - Collaborate with case workers and other department staff to provide accurate evaluations for unsupervised access.
      - Conduct assessments for child safety decision-making and submit them for supervisory review.

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - One (1) year as a Social Service Specialist 2, or
      - Six (6) years of paid social service experience and 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline, or
      - A Bachelor's degree in social services or related field and two (2) years of relevant paid social service experience, or
      - A Master's degree in social services or related field and one (1) year of relevant paid social service experience.
      - Paid social service experience must include at least one (1) year assessing risk and safety to children.

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Demonstrated experience with DCYF policies and ensuring equity in decision-making.
      - Proficiency in using FamLink, ACES, and interpreting court records.
      - Skilled in evaluating risks to vulnerable populations while centering on family strengths.
      - Experience working with clients facing mental health challenges or substance use disorders.
      - Capable of integrating conflicting information to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
