What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct sociotechnical analyses of generative AI systems aligned with ACLU values
- Perform landscape analysis of current generative AI offerings and potential ACLU use cases
- Develop a model-agnostic testing and evaluation toolkit for bias testing of large language models
- Support the ACLU's Generative AI Working Group with expertise on privacy, security, and fairness
- Assist in drafting and distributing public-facing materials related to generative AI

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Strong interest in algorithmic justice demonstrated through past work, research, or projects
- Background in technical fields (e.g., engineering, machine learning) or sociotechnical fields (e.g., sociology, history of technology)
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in a programming language for statistical analysis, such as R or Python, is preferred

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with software development and cloud-based tooling related to generative AI
- Experience in conducting quantitative or qualitative research in relevant fields
- Engagement in volunteer organizing or activism related to civil liberties or technology ethics
