AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies offers paid summer internships to students enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate degree programs. As an AmeriHealth Caritas intern, you will learn about the healthcare industry, our Medicaid and Medicare plans, pharmacy benefits management and behavioral health care — and how we are working to improve access to health care for all Americans. You will also join us in building healthy communities through active service projects that support our mission.
• Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program and have completed the second year of Pharmacy School (rising P3) by the start of the summer internship program.
• Candidates must be working toward a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
• Candidates must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 GPA scale.
• Candidates should have previous pharmacy experience a managed care, healthcare, long term care or retail environment.
• Candidates must have unrestricted work authorization.
• Candidates must be able to work a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office, 2 days remote) at our campus in Newtown Square, PA from June 3, 2024 to August 9. 2024.Responsibilities:
We are looking for a dynamic energetic intern who is eager to learn and assist with member and provider outreach to optimize medication regimens.
Under direct supervision of a pharmacist, the intern has the opportunity to track and trend clinical outcomes and assist with clinical documentation.
Responsibilities include (under the supervision of a pharmacist):• Perform member profile reviews and make appropriate clinical recommendation to medication therapy
• Complete and document member/provider outreach in appropriate database
• Follow up on outreach as assigned
• Assist in monitoring clinical queues for daily reviews
• Attend clinical rounds, when applicable
• Comply with CMS standards, regulations, and program description
• Assist the project team with design/re-design of clinical programs
• Participate in evaluation of programs
• Present findings to larger clinical group
• Update workflows based on lessons learned
Education & Experience:
• Must be enrolled in a School of Pharmacy
• Must have Pharmacy Intern license
• Knowledge in pharmacy practices, procedures, and precedents; ability to read and understand pharmaceutical information
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Proficient PC skills in windows-based environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Customer service and interpersonal skillsAbout the company
