- Supervises 15-30 scientists, engineers, operation researchers and analysts performing system of systems architecture design
- Directs, coordinates and oversees work through subordinate employees
- Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of senior management
- Leads, promotes, and enables complex multidisciplinary work involving the application of science and engineering (S&E) and/or program management principles to plan, organize, direct and coordinate significant and complex capability development projects and/or processes
- Applies expert knowledge and advanced technical theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure assigned projects/processes remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies
- Demonstrates a mastery of, and skill in applying, innovative multi-disciplinary practices, techniques, and methodology to identify, analyze, and resolve issues; ensures resolutions are consistent with program objectives
- Demonstrates creativity and foresight by identifying, preparing, and presenting reports and briefings on new concepts and technical directions impacting programs/projects, and defining future technology requirements
- Develops innovative approaches and solutions and provides analytics to identify, assess, and mature innovative and affordable technology and concepts meeting future AF needs
- Cultivates and sustains a professional atmosphere of cooperation, cohesion and teamwork.
- Collaborates, interacts, coordinates, and/or directly consults with AF, DoD, other government agencies, academic, and industry partners including HQ AF, HQ SF, MAJCOMs, FIELDCOMs, COCOMs, PEOs, AFRL, and other services.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience (SES) at the DR/DO-03 (GS-14 equivalent) or DR/DO-04 (GS-15 equivalent) for consideration.
- This is an interdisciplinary position. Applicants must be able to meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards of the occupational series assigned when the position is filled. - This is a supervisory position. Incumbent may be subject to a supervisory probation period.
- The incumbent may be subject to random drug testing.
- PCS may or may not be paid.
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical Certification in Engineering and Technical Management. Experience requirement is 4 years; and the selectee will have 60-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.
- Position is eligible for telework but the employee must live within the commuting area of Hanscom AFB, MA.
- An advanced academic degree in a science or engineering (S&E) or other related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience in the supervision of a variety of career fields--particularly engineers, scientists, and program managers.
- Demonstrated ability leading or guiding cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical or warfighter challenges.
- Prior experience in integrating systems or technology and in systems to systems modeling and architecture.
- Experience distilling strategic and/or leadership guidance into actionable plans or courses of action.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people, build consensus, and identify and resolve conflicts/problems with the workforce.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and grow cross-functional teams.

This job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions until 11:59 EST on Monday, 19 Feb 2024.The AFRL Integrated Capabilities Directorate (RS), Architecture Design Integration and Evaluation Division (RSA), Architecture Design Branch (RSAD) is seeking to fill a first-level supervisory branch chief position at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts. This position will lead 15-30 geographically distributed mid to senior level S&E team members, providing technical expertise and support to the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM). The AFRL RSAD mission is to review current Department of Defense (DoD) architecture models and designs a migration path to a future state that enables seamless sensor-to-shooter connectivity.
