      This position is located at Middle School/Teen Center at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA.

      Duties


      • Serves as a CYS Supervisory Program Specialist with responsibility for supervising CYS direct care staff (minimum of 8 ratios of children in a Child Development Center (Ages 0-5) or 6 ratios of children/youth in a School-Age Program or Youth.
      • Prepares work schedules to meet ratio and group size requirements. provides program oversight and accountability. Monitors and analyzes adult/participant ratio sheets to ensure proper staffing to ensure children are supervised at all times.
      • Assists with recruitment and selection of caregiving staff utilizing Army CYS Standard Position Descriptions. Supervises and evaluates employees based on established performance standards as required. Ensures timely submission of personnel actions.
      • Assists directors and training specialist to plan, coordinate, and implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children and youth.
      • Acts as Assistant Director or Director in their absence up to 20% of the time. May work in additional CYS facilities for the purposes of providing management oversight for evening or weekend openings.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Requirements


      • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
      • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
      • Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements for this position.
      • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
      • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
      • Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements and demonstrated on the job competency is required. Travel to on and off post locations required.
      • May be subject to an irregular hours, evening and or weekends.
      • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.

      • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para 2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
      • The Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained.

      Qualifications


      (QUAL 1) Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study (at least 24 semester hours) in the fields appropriate to the position consistent with: Education must have been directly related to the position to be filled (general psychology/sociology courses are not qualifying).
      • For positions in Youth Facilities: The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.

      OR

      (QUAL 2) A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) appropriate to the position (see above), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described above.

      In addition to meeting one of the requirements above (QUAL 1 or QUAL 2), candidate must also possess all of the following:
      1. Experience supervising or leading caregivers within child/youth facility-based programs.
      2. Experience managing a classroom setting within child and youth programs.
      3. Experience implementing and overseeing a structured child and youth program curriculum.
      4. Demonstrated verbal communication skills gained through conducting training, delivering presentations, conducting meetings with parents and/or staff, or similar.
