- Daily collaboration with internal teams to ensure adherence with small business policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in regular meetings with key Supply Chain stakeholders including Directors and Managers from various functional areas such as production procurement, subcontracts, strategic sourcing, proposals, and compliance.
- Act as an advocate for the CMS Supplier Diversity Program (SDP) across the enterprise.
- Develops, implements, and manages initiatives and recommends specific strategies to expand the company base of and expenditures to small businesses, small, disadvantaged businesses, women-owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, veteran owned small businesses and service disable veteran owned small businesses.
- Support negotiations for annual SDP goals.
- Submit goals for annual operating plan.
- Provides metrics on SDP performance to goals.
- Serves as SDP contact for government, potential suppliers, the community, and company organizations to maintain good business relationships and resolve customer concerns.
- Serves as focal point to market the diverse supply base and champion that potential supply base to Procurement, Program Management, and Engineering organizations within CMS.
- Ability to prioritize effectively in response to frequently changing and demanding team requirements.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively across functions to drive necessary requirements forward.
- Utilize/Apply general knowledge of supplier diversity competencies and supplier management processes and procedures.
- Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity, referring to supplier diversity and procurement policies, procedures, and practices for guidance.
- Assist in ensuring that CMS procurement staff has access to internal and external databases of diverse suppliers and actively utilize databases in sourcing decisions.
- Assist continuous process improvement activities to promote the small business program
- Assist in coordinating supplier diversity requirements with overall corporate objectives.
- Assist in the bid, proposal and contract preparation process including assistance with identification of small, small disadvantaged, women-owned, HUBZone, veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses
- Assist in executing to a formal process for consideration of diverse suppliers in the early stages of new business development and the pre-proposal phases of projects and program
- Identify opportunities for the participation of diverse suppliers.
- Assist in eliminating barriers, when appropriate, to increase participation in procurement by diverse suppliers.
- Advise diverse suppliers in obtaining and maintaining internal and external certification.
- Ensure that diverse suppliers are considered in make/buy decisions, offload, research and development, and other new requirements.
- Ensure that diverse suppliers are considered in company leveraging opportunities (e.g., corporate agreements, value stream alignment, value engineering, strategic alliance, teaming).
- Sponsor and support supplier development initiatives (e.g., advanced technology, preferred supplier certification, lean) to increase the competitiveness of diverse suppliers.
- Support outreach activities.
- Utilize/Share access to resources to identify potential suppliers and assist them in gaining introductions to appropriate CMS personnel and organizations or both.
- Assist in reviewing and tracking Small Business Subcontracting Plans from second tier suppliers to CMS and report on when required by statutory regulation
- High School Diploma with 3 - 4 years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with supplier diversity programs
- Experience utilizing Excel (Dashboards, Spreadsheets, Analysis, Formulas, Data Manipulation, etc.)
- Experience in Data Analytics and Reporting
- Knowledge in interpreting and applying language including federal acquisition regulations (FAR), DoD acquisition regulations, and/or public laws
- Alliance of Supplier Diversity Professionals Certification
Job Description
Combat Mission Systems (CMS), a business unit within BAE Systems Platforms & Services (P&S), has an opening for a Supplier Diversity Associate.
The selected candidate will join our Supplier Diversity Team and have an important role in supporting Small Business/Supply Chain with a strong focus on small business initiatives and assisting with supplier development.
Additionally, the candidate will assume a core team member role within the INC Small Business Working Group.
This position will provide professional, technical, and analytical support utilizing procurement tools.
This role necessitates the capacity to conduct research and comprehend requirements in alignment with internal policies and procedures.
