- Supplying appropriate instruments , suture, and specialty items .
- Maintain ing aseptic technique during all sterile procedures .
- Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens .
- Counting all required sponge s , sharps, and instrument s.
- Assur ing availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
- Modif ying clinical interventions based on population served.
- Nurtur ing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
- Anticipat ing the surgeon’s needs .
- Follow ing appropriate action in emergency situations.
- Complete one of the following by hire date:
- Military Surgical Assistant; OR
- LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR
- Surgical Technologist training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers ( or ability to obtain by hire date)
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
- 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
- Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations .
- Ability to work well under a team environment .
- Excellent communication skills .
- T he ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex work env ironment.

Job OverviewFairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Delivery Room at our M Health Fairview St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.
We’re offering an up to $7,500 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000!
As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the delivery room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the delivery room.
Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the day shift. This position will also work a rotation for every third weekend.
