      About the Role

      Morgan Stanley is seeking a Vice President role in Japan Syndicate Operations team. Japan Syndicate Operations team provides operational support to Global Capital Markets (GCM) on Equity new issuance activity. This position is a high-profile and business facing role, ensuring seamless execution of syndicate transactions front to back for the Firm's largest clients. The team supports high value GCM transactions and are responsible for handling sensitive/private-side information on daily basis. Syndicate Operations works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on deal requirements and coordination of settlement on syndicate offerings. The department has accountability and responsibility for providing specialized operational support on GCM deals in the Japan market, where Morgan Stanley is part of the Syndicate.

      The Japan Syndicate Operations team is responsible for operational functions for Japan Equity GCM products, including IPOs, Right Issuance and Secondary Blocks. Syndicate Operations are private side employees and sit with our GCM business partners. The Japan Syndicate Operations team are part of a global team and have close working relationships with their counterparts in Hong Kong, EMEA, Mumbai and the US.

      Key Responsibilities

      The Japan Syndicate Operations team is responsible for, but not limited to the below tasks:

      Risk Management

      § The role involves exposure to the Firm's largest and most important clients, including Governments, Private Equity and Wealth Management. The global GCM franchise has a best-in-class reputation.

      § The candidate must therefore be able to demonstrate an excellent awareness of risk and demonstrate strong judgement around timely escalation.

      § This role requires direct coordination with senior stakeholders across GCM and Operations as the point of escalation for the team to ensure appropriate awareness and resolution.

      Leadership and Change Management

      § The Global Syndicate organisation is investing in significant change projects over the next 2-3 years focused on eliminating manual processes, risk management and governance, and creation of capacity.

      Client Liaison

      § The role will involve direct liaison and interaction, often at senior levels, with our internal clients such as IBD/GCM, Corporate Finance, LCD as well as our external clients including issuing companies and selling shareholder.

      Deal Management

      § Candidates will need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills to be able to manage all aspects of the new issuance process from structuring through to closing. The candidate will provide the effective link between Business Units and all other Operational areas as well as Legal, Compliance and Treasury

      Technical Expertise

      § Candidates will be required to advanced knowledge of the Japan market and clearing systems as well as the mechanics of settling Equity products.

      Control & Reconciliation

      § Candidates will have supervisory oversight of control framework including quality assurance and sample checking.

      Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

      § Advanced level of Product Knowledge and experience in Syndicate business

      § High level of risk management awareness and guardianship

      § Market Awareness with a view on regulatory and compliance requirements, and impact to the underlying Morgan Stanley booking entity

      § Strong leadership skill to lead and co-ordinate teams of people in achieving a defined objective, and build strong relationship with people across all levels and areas of the Firm including Senior management

      § Strong communication, organisation, and people management skill
