      About the role

      We are looking for enthusiastic Systems Engineers at all levels, including Senior, Lead and Associate Principal Systems Engineers, to join our growing team.

      Dyson develop products which are deliberately different and verifiably better than the competition. These solutions are increasingly complex and require close integration of innovative technologies. We’re expanding our Product Systems Engineering (PSE) team to help us manage that complexity and ultimately get our new ideas to market sooner.

      All of our Systems Engineers help us to realise this capability.

      Key responsibilities:

      • Work at the core of our early-stage product development teams using Systems Engineering tools and methods to bring clarity from ambiguity.

      • Translate our product vision into clear and concise Requirements using Systems Engineering process such as Use Cases, Context Diagrams, Architectures and more.

      • Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods to develop Functional, Logical, and Behavioural architectures to understand the operations and flow of the System

      • Build strong and cohesive relationships with team members throughout the business

      • Work collaboratively with and effectively influence all our engineering teams to clarify work packages, manage trade-off studies, and resolve engineering issues.

      • Lead and coach a growing core team of Systems Engineers of all levels of expertise. Coaching & Mentoring exists at all levels and in all directions within the Systems Engineering team of which everyone is a part

      • Contribute to the Systems Engineering process development and ethos and it’s integration into the wider company, educating other RDD employees in Systems Engineering to resolve technical challenges

      • Have the ability to collaborate across multiple cross functional teams.

      • Follow a Leader-Leader mentality working as an emancipated autonomous team

      • Have the ability to apply robust analytical methods to real world engineering problems

      • Take pride in the accuracy of your results in every aspect of yours and your team’s work.

      As an Associate Principal Engineer you will also be responsible for:

      • Leading engineers to deliver exceptional project deliverables

      • Influencing project direction to deliver successful innovative projects delivered on time, on cost, and on scope

      • Specific mentoring & coaching of Engineer/Senior/Lead levels to continue their development towards being an AP themselves

      • Communicating at all levels in the department from direct reports to board level with confidence, accuracy and appropriate detail.

      • Driving the growth of the Systems Engineering department to deliver to its full potential

      • The development of Systems Engineering processes and improvements

      • Governing the performance of Systems Engineering project outputs

      About you:

      • Experience in Systems Engineering processes and applications.

      • Experience in a product development environment.

      • Experience in Systems breakdown and architecture definition resulting in well written unambiguous requirements.

      • Capable of working in a flexible and autonomous manner

      • A solid grasp of MBSE including experience building SysML models using Systems Engineering Modelling Software

      • Requirements Management Tools

      (Covering Senior/Lead/Associate Principal, with each level requiring more knowledge & experience)
