- Research, develop, and execute system characterization tests
- Work as part of a systems engineering team on new product development
- Utilize multidisciplinary engineering knowledge and experience to design, develop, and troubleshoot new products specific for cardiac mapping and ablation
- Play a key role in the system integration testing
- Collaborate with Systems Verification, Pre-Clinical engineering and other stakeholders to do root cause analysis and solution generation
- Review customer requirements
- Review system architectures and behaviors
- Write system requirements
- Work closely with cross-function team, including design reviews with QA, RA, test engineers, hardware engineers to ensure the system design meets the system requirements, including safety, reliability and serviceability.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.
- 6+ months of experience in R&D environment or medical device field
- Passion for technology and willingness to learn
- Matlab or other programming experience
- Have the ability to think at a system level while engaging in technical discussions at the product level (amplifier, catheter, generator, software, etc.)
- Working knowledge of cardiac anatomy and electrophysiology

The Opportunity
Our St. Paul, MN location is seeking an ambitious, self-driven, and detail oriented individual to join our Electrophysiology (EP) Systems Engineering team. Individuals in this role will assist in understanding user needs, investigate and troubleshoot complex system interactions, execute characterization tests and be instrumental in ensuring our products exceed our user’s expectations. Other work may include investigating field issues, developing and executing verification tests, identifying and mitigating system hazards, defining system architectures and behaviors, and writing system requirements. Leading an active lifestyle is important to the many people we serve. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology and Heart Failure division, we’re advancing the treatment of heart and vascular disease through breakthrough medical technologies, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

The base pay for this position is
