- A broad theoretical job knowledge obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of specialization is required. Preferred fields of specialization include Bachelor of Engineering (System, Software, Computer, or Electrical.)
- Computer skills: Office applications including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, and Visio.
- The selected candidate must be eligible to meet requirements and conditions of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Basic knowledge of system security engineering lifecycle standards, processes and practices;
- Basic knowledge of networks and security systems (firewalls, intrusion detection, two factor authentication, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of cyber security frameworks such as: NIST, COBIT, NDSOD, ITSG-33, ISO 27001, and ISO 27002;
- Knowledge of computer hardware such as laptops, servers, switches, routers, etc.
- Knowledge of networking systems, protocols, TCP/IP, and UDP.
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Ability to develop and execute a ‘plan of work’;
- Self-directed team member with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Works independently under general direction and guidance of the System Security Engineering Lead and applicable Senior Specialists.
- Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to obtain, relay and explain relevant information pertaining to ongoing Cyber Security and System Security initiatives.
- Develop and maintain Threat Risk Assessments (TRA) for military platforms and analyze the impact to overall system security posture.
- Prepare and review monthly Cyber Security status reports and statistics.
- Work with a cross-functional team across multiple projects to secure clients assets from threats and vulnerabilities as part of a broader system security approach.
- Organize, develop, and present security briefings, written summaries, and written reports incorporating narrative, tabular and/or graphic elements on security assessments.
- Support ongoing System Security Working Groups by identifying required agenda, presenting assigned information and addressing appointed action items.
- Remain up to date on and interested in security technologies, threats, vulnerabilities, threat models, processes.
- Create draft guidelines, and other technical documentation in support of ongoing Cyber and System Security initiatives.
- Act as a member of a System Security Incident Response Team.
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
The System Security Integration Engineer is a junior member of the MAS Software Engineering Department (System / Cyber Security) who supports several geographically dispersed, highly qualified, professional personnel (engineers and technicians) in the maintenance of the cybersecurity posture for multiple military aircraft platforms; including associated ground systems equipment and supply chains (software engineering environments and system integration laboratories, etc.) Responsibilities include: deriving system engineering deliverables (system requirements, design documents, engineering plans, test plans and reports, etc.), performing security risk assessment and vulnerability triage activities, producing vulnerability and incident reports for various fleets within the Royal Canadian Air Force, and supporting the development and maintenance of related processes, procedures, and plans.
