Amazon is seeking for an experienced Tax Manager in the area of Excise Duties to perform a combined planning and compliance role as part of growing team in Bratislava.
We are open to having the roles based in Barcelona, Warsaw, Muunich, Milan, Poland and London.
The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a high level of collegiality and be comfortable directly liaising with various finance, accounting, legal and tax teams within the company.
You will need to be proactive enough to keep up with the pace of the business, be able to adapt to a changing environment, collaborate effectively with multiple teams in different geographies, and communicate effectively with business teams and senior leaders.
Key job responsibilities
Your primary duties as a Tax Manager in the team will include:
- Building up internal processes, identify efficiencies and prepare standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with Excise duty liabilities.
- Assist with preparing of tax calculations and related filings with respect to Excise & Local Consumer Taxes;
- Assist with related Excise/Consumer tax registrations across various jurisdictions;
- Monitoring of upcoming/new Excise & Local consumer taxes with an impact on Amazon's business operations;
- Engage regularly with business partners and external counsels to ensure that Excise Duty compliance is onboarded from Day 1 for new business & country expansions
€3,500+ gross per month and salary depends on the skills and requirements, there will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. About the team
You will be working as a member of a smaller, but quickly expanding DST & Local Consumer team based in Bratislava. The team is responsible for managing the Digital Service Tax Compliance globally and also for handling compliance activities around Excise and other Local Consumer Taxes primarily within Europe.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Bratislava, SVKBasic qualifications
- Demonstrable tax experience with a major tax advisory or law firm, and/or in industry;
- Broad tax compliance or advisory experience with a strong focus on EU Excise duties and/or other Local consumer taxes - Degree in law or accounting - chartered accountant (or equivalent) or graduate degree in taxation preferred.
- Able to extract, analyze, and review data and make appropriate recommendations.
- Detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects.
- Experience of designing and executing compliance processes;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management.
- Another European language is a nice to have.
