Tech Academy – Engineering, Testing and Cyber Security Apprenticeships
Our growing Technology team plays a key role in ensuring OS is at the cutting edge of geospatial capability and is looking for people to join them. Its mission is to work across the business to provide customer centric design and technology services.

Here are some of t he types of roles we are looking for
Software Engineering
You'll learn skills in a core coding language so that you can develop , maintain , improve, and support our services, so that we can continue to deliver ongoing high level of availability for our internal and external customers at a high standard.
You’ll write code using best practices to ensure it is clean, secure, up-to-date and testable with no performance bottlenecks. In time, y ou ’ll carry out code inspections and peer reviews to provide assurance of code quality against business requirements.
Data Engineering
Like our Software Engineering roles , but with a focus on E xtract, T ransfor m and L oad (ETL) of geospatial data through algorithms, pipelines, and processes.
Business Systems Engineering
Like our Software Engineering roles, but with a focus on learning to develop, maintain , improve, and support our Microsoft Dynamics 365 F inancial Supply Chain Management (FSCM) systems . As part of the role there will be the opportunity to support and configure the system, but also to enhance and optimise it to meet the needs of our stakeholders.
Software Testing
Do you have a passion for quality, an eye for detail, or an analytical mind that often spots the unexpected? Do you like to automate tasks that you perform on a regular basis? Do you compare outputs to specifications, like to check things work as they should, or enjoy exploring the breaking points of games, systems, processes, or technology? If so, we want you to be the next generation of Test Engineers at Ordnance Survey . We are looking for individuals with a real passion in quality control, who want to learn how to analyse systems, engineer automated tests and help shape the future of our technology.
Cyber Security
Y ou will help defend our digital services from cyber - attack, respond to incidents and work with all OS teams to mitigate our security vulnerabilities. You will help ensure we comply with our policies, provide your colleagues with advice and guidance, and support our critical cyber platforms.

What the Tech Academy programme involves
Joining a dedicated professional Engineering team, you will embark on a 12 - month training programme as part of an agile development team; working closely with a technical mentor, who will help you to develop the business and technological knowledge and skills required to flourish within the business.

What you’ll get from the programme
By the end of the training programme, you should be able to demonstrate good knowledge of:
Upon successful completion of the training programme you will be promoted to an Associate position, with a career path and development plan to progress you swiftly to your next role.
We expect that you will be enrolled onto an apprenticeship scheme to support your training . If an apprenticeship scheme is used, you will be awarded a relevant qualification on completion. Apprenticeships often have minimum level requirements, and we will work with you to identify appropriate learning to support your eligibility.

Location - Location: These roles will be based at our state-of-the-art Headquarters in Southampton. Aspects of the training and tasks you will work on may require you to attend in person, so those joining the programme will need to be prepared to come into OSHQ when required .

OS conducts DBS background checks for all joiners and some of our roles require additional security clearance, including to SC or DV level in some cases. We will tell candidates at the appropriate time during the recruitment process if additional clearance will be required for this role.
