      The Technical Sales Representative- Automotive based in the Southeast Michigan/ Metro Detroit area will contribute to Velcro USA's Transportation Segment and will work within the Michigan based Automotive Sales team.

      Transportation Segment: Segment focuses mainly on Automotive business. Ability to sell an engineered solutions while working internally with Engineers and team to provide the best solution available. Sales are more technical and can have longer selling cycles.

      Summary of Position Responsibility:

      The Technical Sales Representative will lead technical sales and resulting Velcro brand product specification within the global automotive supply chain to increase revenue, profitability, and market penetration.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
      • Devise and execute a technical sales product development plan that meets high-revenue growth objectives to Automotive Tier 1 suppliers. Focus on Tier 1 customer engineering and program management decision makers to specify Velcro brand products within their automotive component designs.
      • Manage all phases of the vehicle component product development cycle to efficiently launch Velcro brand products into mass production. Coordination of system engineering proposals for cost and mass reduction and performance improvement. Lead BOM development and product cost estimating resulting in engineering presentations and customer specification of Velcro brand product proposals.
      • Efficiently coordinate Velcro engineering and project management activity with customers through concept, award, prototype, design/validation, and mass production design/ launch phases to ensure perfect quality, delivery, and maximum profitability.
      • Provide technical product updates into sales pipeline management.
      • Develop and implement technical proposals for high strength fasteners and adhesive tape products into the North American automotive marketplace while coordinating global customer accounts with Velcro counterparts in Europe, Asia, and South America.
      • Lead application engineering development activities to develop technical solutions in the Cockpit, overhead systems, insulation, seating, electrical, and exterior vehicle segments to broaden Velcro's product scope within the automotive industry.
      • Prepare technical presentations and proposals to support Quarterly Business Reviews with customers.
      • Provide application engineering development support to expand Velcro's customer base within the automotive industry to balance our business between the US, European, and Asian car companies and their Tier 1 suppliers.
      • A minimum of 20% travel will be required for this position.
      • Other duties may be assigned or required for the performance of this position.

      Knowledge & Experience (Minimum Job Qualifications):
      • Bachelor's Degree: Engineering Degree preferred.
      • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in technical sales or application engineering within the automotive market. Experience in vehicle electrical distribution systems preferable at a Tier 1 or Automotive OEM.
      • Background with automotive engineering and program management.
      • Background in vehicle or component assembly with experience in cutting, sewing, laminating, sonic welding, fasteners and adhesives.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and team-based project experience.
      • Self-motivated, ability to work closely with technical teams to develop innovative solutions through successful commercialization.
      • Engineering experience using APQP in the automotive industry.
      • Attention to detail, experienced in lean manufacturing principles.
      • Expertise with data driven value-based selling of technical solutions in the automotive design/build environment.
      • Ability to maintain a high level of activity and manage multiple projects.
      • Highly motivated and results oriented.
      • Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
      • CRM Software proficiency; SalesForce.com preferred.
      • Ability to travel domestically, 20% of the time.
