Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist
Client is seeking a meticulous and creative Software Documentation Writer/ Documentation Specialist who can create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software products.
This role involves working closely with client team Software Developers and Engineers to create detailed directions, user guides, and operating manuals that are easy to follow for non-technical end users. This role uses a blend of technical writing and graphic design skills to translate complex information in a clear, concise, and visually appealing manner.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluates internal procedures and documents processes that support the continuous improvement of sound business practices
• Manage documentation projects from start-to-finish
• Ability to create diagrams to document the process flow of an application
• Must be able to communicate complex and technical Information more easily
• As an integral part of cross-functional teams, this person must learn the products by hands-on experience
• Write, edit, and update detailed software documentations that are clear, concise and easy to understand for a wide range of end users
• Work closely with Software Developers, Engineers, and Product Owners/Product Managers to gather and clarify technical information during all stages of software development
• Research and works with subject matter experts to gather relevant technical information and ensure the documents they create are complete and accurate
• Continuously update and revise documentation based on feedback, software updates, and new releases
• Stay updated with industry standards and best practices for technical writing and documentation
Qualification
• Strong visual skills for creating easily understandable diagrams.
• Proficiency with Windows computers, the MS Office Suite, Lucid Charts and working with SharePoint databases.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong focus on accuracy and consistency in documentation.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in technical documentation.
Required skills
• Ability to apply critical thinking skills to writing and communication
• Understanding the types of technical documentation and how to choose the right one
• Skilled researcher and editor
• Capable of quickly learning complex topics and communicating them to others
Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Above 4 years of experience as a Technical Writer or Documentation Specialist, in software documentation (including understanding and creating trouble shooting guides)About the company
