Job Description

- Develop clear and concise alternative text (alt-text) for graphical content to aid users with visual impairments.
- Write extended descriptions for complex maps to provide a comprehensive understanding for all users.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and accessibility specialists to ensure content accuracy and compliance with WCAG standards.
- Revise and edit existing descriptions based on feedback and testing results.
- Maintain documentation and project files, keeping detailed records of all created content.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or related field.
- Proven experience in technical writing or content creation focused on accessibility.
- Familiarity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and experience writing accessible content.
- Ability to translate visual information into descriptive text that can be understood by individuals with various disabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight project deadlines.
- Experience with content management systems and accessibility tools.
- Knowledge of digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) is ideal.
- Experience in environmental science, geography, or a related field is a plus.
