      POSITION SUMMARY:
      Under the direction of the Teen Director and in harmony with the established policies and goals of the YMCA, the Teen Program Aide will provide a fun, quality, holistic teen experience which will expose youth to opportunities for physical, social, and emotional development, through participation in teen programming. The Teen Program Aide will provide supervision and guidance over the program ensuring a safe and energetic environment for all members. Provides a quality experience to teens and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Helps to carry out activities, experiences, and routines under the direct supervision of the Teen Director.
      • Promotes a team environment through a positive approach in supervision, communication, and interactions with others.
      • Manage teen behaviors in center, abiding to Sponsor a Teen Programming
      • Assists with the planning and implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values
      • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
      • Attends staff meetings and trainings
      • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
      • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions
      • Take initiative in day to day teen engagement at a center level
      • Encourages enthusiastic participation in all programming activities
      • Encourages teens to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for teens to reflect on and respond to their experiences
      • Performs and adheres to safety, cleanliness, and uniform standards associated with COVID-19 prevention.
      • Performs all other duties as assigned

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Must be at least 18 years of age
      • Must be able to effectively manage teen behaviors and communication in accordance with YMCA values and encourage development
      • Complete full pre-employment training, including New Staff Orientation and other training as assigned
      • Current CPR and First Aid certification or obtain within the first 90 days of hire
      • Must have good communication skills, exhibits energy and enthusiasm and positively interacts with teens and guardians
      • Ability to be on time, every time for scheduled shifts
      • Ability to work at various program locations
      • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
      • Exhibits a positive attitude with a demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds and promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives
      • Possess a high level of confidentiality and a strong commitment to the YMCA philosophy and values

      PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

      • Self-starter, demonstrate a high degree of initiative and exercise sound judgment
      • History working with Youth and Teens
      • Have six months of supervised programmatic experience
      • Ability to effectively plan and implement youth lead programs
      • Strong attention to detail, analytical, customer service, and presentation skills
      • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and to work in a fast paced office environment
      • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

      WORKING CONDITIONS:

      • Requires effective team-building and team-leadership skills
      • Must maintain cooperative, functional relationships with program participants, teammates and supervisors
      • Must maintain a positive, energetic attitude toward YMCA work, goals, and values

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • May be required to walk, stand, run, kneel, climb and stoop
      • Must be able to sit on the floor and get back up
      • Continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking
      • Must be able to lift, pull and pull up to 50 pounds
      • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
      • Must be physically able to successfully complete the required certifications

      BACKGROUND CHECKS:
