      Job Description Summary:

      Fenwick is seeking a temporary Events Manager who will take a hands-on approach to planning, coordinating, and executing multi-practice events and sponsorships that bolster the firm's brand, visibility, and business objectives across Fenwick’s US markets. The Manager will directly oversee every aspect of event execution, from initial concept to post-event analysis, ensuring each event is impactful and aligned with strategic goals. By actively refining event strategies and continuously evolving the event portfolio, the Manager will enhance the effectiveness and engagement of all events.

      This role is hybrid, based in any of our California offices, with 2-3 days per week in the office. The Events Manager must be willing and able to travel to work events as necessary with occasional evening and weekend programs.

      Job Description:

      Event Logistics:

      • Plan, coordinate, and execute all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, catering, transportation, and accommodation to ensure seamless event operations.
      • Support strategic development of marketing event programs that reinforce the Fenwick brand, develop qualified leads, strengthen and expand client relations.
      • Oversee all aspects of program and event execution for external cross-practice programs such as client briefings, attorney speaking engagements, special events and other programs related to marketing initiatives.
      • Lead on-site event management, including setup, registration, troubleshooting, and breakdown to ensure smooth execution and client satisfaction.

      Budget Ownership:

      • Create, manage, and monitor event budgets to ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality event standards.
      • Communicate clearly and immediately any overages or unexpected occurrences with department leadership and key stakeholders.

      Technology Utilization:

      • Utilize event management software and tools, including Salesforce, Splash and Marketo, to build invitations, manage registrations, and track attendee engagement.
      • Oversee and help manage team process changes related to technology shifts and enhancements.

      Team Leadership and Strategy:

      • Oversee and guide the events team, ensuring effective coordination and execution of marketing events, while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment to enhance team performance and event success.
      • In partnership with the Senior Events Manager, mentor team members through regular feedback, skill development opportunities, and career advancement support, aiming to build a resilient, highly skilled events team capable of exceeding organizational goals.
      • Assist in the development and regular reporting of meaningful metrics that help improve the efficiency of the events and sponsorships function and demonstrate the value of the firm’s marketing events investments.
      • Help identify and develop projects designed to improve event processes, increase event management efficiency, reduce cost and increase event engagement.
      • Leverage market awareness and industry best practices to recommend and facilitate innovative solutions on event programs and execution, including refining existing programs and establishing new events and initiatives.

      Desired Skills and Qualifications:

      • Advanced project management skills, which include: defining, scheduling, tracking, communicating status, managing projects, risk management, contingency planning and ability to acquire resources.
      • Effective communication, presentation, negotiation, planning, organization and facilitation skills, including the ability to:
        • Identify and resolve program issues (e.g., alignment, resources)
        • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within marketing, across administrative departments (e.g., HR, PD, IT, Finance, etc.) and with partners and firm leadership to solve issues.
        • Communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, courteous manner with clients, Firm members and other business contacts.
        • Manage ambiguity, such as changing priorities and changing strategies.
      • Work with and understand a diverse set of organizations and functions.
      • Proven capability to accomplish difficult, complex goals with limited actual “authority.”
      • Analyze issues, generate plans and communicate effectively and diplomatically.
      • Understand and make judgments based on technical information and business needs specific to the organization’s solutions.
      • Work effectively with multiple levels of management.
      • Work independently and as a team player, both with internal staff and external contractors.
      • Possess a high degree of self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with attorneys, staff, clients and the public.
      • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to proactively anticipate problems as well as suggest and execute on solutions.
      • Ability to coach and mentor team members.
      • Advanced proficiency with all Microsoft Office Products, as well as an overall affinity for technology to stay current with the evolving marketing technology landscape and ability to deploy tools that maximize efficiency and usability of the Firm’s marketing events function.
      • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

      Reporting to the Senior Events Manager, the qualified candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in event management, professional services experience preferred; law firm experience a plus. Significant experience in project management processes and tools is required; PMI certification preferred. Bachelor's degree required.

      The anticipated range for this position is:

      $107,000 - $145,250

      Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

      A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance. Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
