The finance and accounting intern position is a valuable opportunity for current undergraduate and graduate students or recent May 2024 graduates to gain hands-on experience in the field of finance and accounting. The intern will assist with various financial tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, financial analysis, and research. This position will work closely with the Texas PSF finance team to support day-to-day operations and contribute to special projects as needed.
About the Corporation
The Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) was created by Texas’ first Constitution in 1845 as a perpetual fund to support the state’s public schools and was seeded with $2 million in 1854. Since that time, the PSF has grown to comprise over $52 billion in assets and will distribute nearly $2.2 billion annually to Texas K-12 schools.
Key Responsibilities Include the Following
• Support the finance team in research, special projects, and initiatives as needed.
• Prepare and record journal entries in the general ledger by compiling and analyzing supporting data and other related information.
• Support the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Review and analyze financial statements, reports, and documentation for accuracy and compliance with regulations.

• Assist with ad-hoc reporting.Qualifications
• Must be enrolled in accredited institution.
• Must be, an Undergraduate rising Junior or Senior (May 2024 graduates are welcome), or a Graduate Student.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher while majoring in Accounting, Finance, or other related business areas.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software to analyze and manipulate data.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations supporting compliance with industry standards.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data and identify areas of risk or inefficiency.
• Excellent written and communication skills to effectively communicate findings, research, conclusions, and other matters to management.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of finance and accounting.
