      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self motivated individual to join the Theatre Administration Support team at University Hospital of North Durham.

      This position is for a part time Theatre Receptionist working 23 hours per week over 3 days, shift times range between 7:00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

      You will be the first point of contact for visitors and patients attending Theatre reception, greeting and welcoming patients when they arrive for their surgical procedures.

      You will also provide admin support to clinical and non clinical staff within Theatres.

      Main duties of the job

      To admit patients onto the electronic patient system when they arrive for surgery.

      To ensure the reception area is manned and provide a welcome, clean and tidy area at all times.

      To liaise with secretaries and consultants re Theatre list order and subsequentley, prepare, print and distribute theatre lists for the following day.

      To respond to telephone enquiries from both internal and external callers.

      To telephone and inform patients when and where to present for their surgery and provide any fasting instructions required

      The successful candidate will work with theatre teams and ward staff to coordinate the efficient calling/collecting of patients from wards, ensuring the electronic patient record system is updated accordingly.

      As part of the reception team the role also requires the daily management of telephone calls and queries, you will therefore need to speak to patients and staff both face to face on over the telephone, therefore good communication skills are required.

      You will be required to prepare theatre packs for the forthcoming day ensuring consent forms, patient stickers, patient wristbands are printed and prepared. Attention to detail is essential.

      Applicants will need a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and be able to send, receive and act upon emails received to the department.
