      Days and Shifts: 1st Shift

      Position Summary:

      Under the supervision of Network Administrator, provide basic support, installation, configuration, and maintenance for all devices and users of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Government Operations and Business Enterprises. Works under close supervision, as well as working with other network group individuals.


      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Provide basic level support of all network devices and users.
      • Support network hardware including racks, patch panels, and wireless equipment.
      • Create and maintain basic user login accounts using Active Directory Users and Computers.
      • Assist end users in the use of network attached file storage.
      • Use tools to recover any data that has been lost due to end user error or technical malfunction.
      • Monitor and maintain the functionality of networking services.
      • Assist in the maintenance of the e-mail system.
      • Create, modify and maintain Access Control lists for files that are on the department drives and end user home drives.
      • Create, modify and delete DHCP reservations, DNS entries, and MAC ACL entries.
      • Create, suspend, modify and terminate network accounts including granting requested access.
      • Maintain file permissions and file shares and grant permission to those shares.
      • Install rack mount server hardware in multiple server room and data center environments.
      • Support network related computers, laptops, printers and other associated peripherals.
      • Assist network group individuals with support and configuration, of network hardware to include, but not limited to LANs, WLANs/SSID`s, Internet, Intranet, Wireless Controllers, Bridges, and Access Points.
      • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems associated with network hardware.
      • Work with other network group individuals as part of the documentation and escalation process for issue resolution.
      • Read, analyze, and interpret technical and general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and regulations.
      • Participate in special projects as assigned.
      • Adhere to employee confidentiality and comply with department policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
      • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
      • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

      Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

      • Contact and interface daily with end users.
      • Contact with third party sales, technical support, engineers, consultants, and analysts.


      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor`s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
      • One year network support experience.
      • An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
      • Experience with Windows Server and Desktop OS and Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Experience with 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet and 10 Gb/s Ethernet LAN/WAN/WLAN.
      • Must be able to work various shifts.
      • Must pass IT related competency exam.
      • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.


      License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

      • HIPAA certification must be completed within 30 days of hire.
      • Must have a valid Michigan Driver`s License and must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver`s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
      • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.


      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements.
      • Knowledge of network concepts, principles, and practices.
      • Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software.
      • Knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area (WAN) hardware and software.
      • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
      • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
      • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
      • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
      • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
      • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.


      Physical Demands:

      • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment and cabling projects.
      • Required to walk for extended periods of time.
      • Occasionally required to stand and sit and reach with arms and hands.
      • Required to climb ladders, accessing high and low areas, to include communications towers, water towers, roof structures, lighting poles.
      • Required to squeeze hands and body into confined spaces.
      • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
      • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


      Work Environment:

      • Normal work environment.
      • May encounter high noise levels, dust and second-hand smoke.
      • Frequent work within unfinished and non-environmentally controlled buildings while buildings are still under construction.
      • Uses tools and sharp objects that require safety protocols and practices.
      • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
      • Travel may be required.
