The Transportation Operations Management (TOM) team is looking for Academy Trainers who are passionate about training and developing a growing network of Transportation Associates (TA). As an Academy Trainer, you are responsible for facilitating and executing the instructor-led onboarding experience through TOM’s Nodal Onboarding Academy (NOA) - a program with strategic significance and high exposure. The NOA provides a consistent, reliable, onboarding and learning experience for TAs using a nodal approach; training associates within close proximity using a centralized location and trainer population. You will facilitate courses on various topics to include but not limited to safety, yard, driving, and operations-based content using a mix of technologies and media platforms. As an Academy Trainer, your main mission is to efficiently onboard and comprehensively develop TAs to be successful in their new role upon Day One from graduation.

      Key job responsibilities
      • Organize and deliver the instructor-led onboarding experience for Transportation Associates.
      • End-to-end ownership of procurement of Academy supplies: purchasing supplies, tracking shipping of supplies, keeping inventory of supplies, and securing supplies at Academy sites.
      • End-to-end ownership of Academy logistics: room configuration and setup, associate permissions, coordination with recruitment and Day One communication, labor tracking, and ownership of non-classroom NOA training exercises (Hostler, in-yard on-the-job training, defensive driving training)
      • Create an engaging learner experience using various training strategies and adult learning methodologies as measured through associate feedback and post-training surveys.
      • Facilitate a formalized Train-the-Trainer program when developing and onboarding new trainers.
      • Measure, assess, and document trainee performance, attendance, and competency levels throughout the NOA experience through formalized mechanisms.
      • Escalate performance management needs identified during the NOA experience.
      • Actively pursue continuous improvement through proactive identification of content, process, and efficiency gaps.
      • Collaborate with peer Academy Trainers to coordinate tasks and perform quality audits.
      • Demonstrate learn and be curious when presented new and/or modified content, technology, and standard work expectations.
      • Maintain professionalism and demonstrate the standards outlined in the code of conduct while maintaining a positive attitude.
      • Ability to travel as appropriate (50%)
      • Exceptional communication skills: must be a poised, confident and engaging presenter/instructor
      • Strong ability to engage with othersBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
      • High school or equivalent diploma
      • Class A CDL driving experience
      • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel,
      PowerPoint, and Outlook
      Preferred Qualifications
      • 1+ years assessing, coaching, and training hourly associates (experience as a Peer Driver Trainer)
      • 1+ years Class A CDL driving experience
      • Excellent organizational and project management skills
      • High level of adaptability, flexibility and effectiveness in handling multiple priorities simultaneously
      • Wide knowledge of the Transportation Operations Management organization and the Transportation Associate role
      • Knowledge of and/or hands-on experience as a Transportation Associate, Field Transportation Lead, Virtual Trainer, or Transportation Support Specialist
      • Ability to give/receive feedback effectively and utilize for process/program improvement
      • Has relentlessly high standards
      • Thrives in an ambiguous work environment
