      Introduction

      Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is hiring multiple full-time Treatment Specialists.

      These positions offer a hybrid of remote and in-person work and will be headquartered at one of the central or regional office buildings throughout the state. Travel is required to visit clients onsite approximately 20% of the time. You may also need to go into the office periodically for meetings, training, onboarding, and other operational needs.

      SRSTC opened in 2001 and provides care and treatment for several different patient populations. The center houses Wisconsin's Sexually Violent Persons Program, provides care and treatment for persons found not guilty by reasons of mental disease or mental defect, and provides court ordered treatment, testing, and education to patients found not competent to stand trial. SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS .

      Position Summary

      SRSTC provides treatment services to adult males who have committed sexual offenses and are civilly committed or are awaiting commitment under Wis. Stat. Ch. 980 . In this role, you will assist with providing treatment to clients placed on the Supervised Release Program who reside outside the facility. You'll function as an active member of the primary treatment team and multi-disciplinary teams. Responsibilities include:
      • Developing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring specialized treatment programming that is consistent with Treatment Department goals and methods.
      • Providing at least 10 hours per week of direct client care in planned scheduled sessions including group facilitation and individual client contacts.
      • Co-facilitating psychotherapy groups with a licensed clinician, for individuals who have committed sexual offenses, utilizing evidenced-based practices to help clients address their individual risk factors and enhance protective factors.
      • Participating in the assessment process, assisting in the formulation of the individualized treatment plan, and implementing sexual offense treatment (SOT) programming.
      • Contributing to client and program evaluation, monitoring progress, providing input into program development, providing training to Supervised Release (SR) staff and ensuring quality treatment services through continuous involvement in improvement efforts.

      Salary Information

      The starting rate of pay is between $28.00-$32.00 per hour (approximately $58,200-$66,500). A 12-month probationary period is required.

      Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 12/64.

      Job Details

      • All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after to their start date.
      • All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
      • DHS does not sponsor work visas for these positions, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
      • Must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy which requires a valid driver's license, minimum two years of driving experience and must be 18 years of age or older. Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions: three or more moving violations and/or at fault accidents in the past two years, an OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months, or suspension or revocation of the driver's license.

      Qualifications

      Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
      • Education, training, or experience in mental health care.
      • Experience observing and documenting human behavior.
      • Experience using crisis management techniques in crisis situations.
      • Experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
      Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
      • Experiencing using assessment findings and other data to develop specific treatment programming.
      • Experience with group facilitation techniques, group dynamics, and their application to treatment with forensic clients.
      • Experience developing, coordinating, delivering, or monitoring treatment to clients with sexual offense histories.
      • Experience using evidence-based approaches or best practices in working with those with histories of sexual offenses such as Risk Need Responsivity, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, or Trauma Informed Care.
