      The Trust Accountant is responsible for managing trust accounts, ensuring accurate and timely accounting of all trust transactions, including reconciliations and journal entries. The role requires expertise in accounting principles and financial reporting, as well as strong analytical skills and attention to detail. The ideal candidate should have experience in trust accounting and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

      Responsibilities:

      • Manage trust accounts, ensuring accurate and timely accounting of all trust transactions, including reconciliations and journal entries
      • Monitor and analyze trust account balances and activity, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues
      • Prepare financial reports and statements related to trust accounts, including tax-related documentation
      • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, auditors, and legal counsel, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and requirements
      • Provide guidance and support to other departments, such as legal and compliance, on trust accounting matters
      • Continuously review and improve accounting processes and systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy
      • Stay up to date with changes in accounting regulations and standards, and provide guidance to the team on any updates
      • Assist the Senior Trust Accountant or Manager of Trust Accounting with any additional tasks as necessary

      Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in trust accounting or a related field
      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is an asset
      • Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple trust accounts
      • Experience with accounting software and systems, preferably in a trust accounting context.
