      Approximately 10-15 hours per week

      Schedule:

      • 10-15 hours per week on average during the academic year, 30-40 hours per week during the summer.
      • Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need.
      • Hours may not be available during November break, Winter break, or Spring break.
      • Seasonal: This position is considered seasonal during the summer months and is exempt from the 89-day rule in regard to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Hours worked may exceed 30 hours/week during the summer months.

      • Move-in Date: August 24, 2025 (If you are a resident of University Housing)
      • Start Date: August 25, 2025
      • Note: Start date and training dates may change but will not be any earlier than the dates listed above.

      Salary/Wage Range:

      Hourly $15.00 to $15.00

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      Office Assistants coordinate and support the day-to-day operation of the residence halls under the supervision of the Residence Life Coordinator and provide administrative oversite and support to daily operations in the Residence Life Office(s). This position may work on special projects and in close coordination with University Housing.

      • Provide administrative support for Residence Life Coordinator(s) and In-Unit Staff utilizing different systems and procedures.
      • Assist with housing resident processes such as move-in and move-out.
      • Perform general administrative tasks including answering phones, purchasing supplies, budget management and special projects for various housing departments.
      • Serve as a resource and answer questions from staff, students, and the general public. Follow up with concerns in a timely and thorough manner.
      • Assist with facilitating the census process in unit.
      • Managing and creating various tracking reports, various calendars, appointments, and room reservations.
      • Assist in creating/maintaining House Fellow duty schedules.
      • Assist with and participate in recruitment, selection, training and development processes, as well as on and off boarding.
      • Maintain and develop frequent, regular, and open communications with the Residence Life professional staff.
      • Assist the Residence Life Coordinator and other staff with the development of materials for print publication, electronic newsletter, emails, bulletin boards, website, etc.
      • Oversee and maintain the Residence Life resource room.
      • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

      Qualifications:

      • Transfer students: Student must be currently enrolled at UW-Madison at time of application to be considered eligible to apply for the position.
      • During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the Student Housing Handbook, and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
