University Housing - Student Shift Lead (Various Locations)

- A Student Shift Lead works an average of 17 hours a week with a biweekly, rotating weekend schedule. A schedule should include at least 1 weekend shift and 1 closing shift.
- Scheduling is flexible and based on academic availability and operational need.
- A Student Shift Lead works an average of 30-40 hours per week.
- Shifts are between 5:30am and 12:00am (most shifts between 5:30am and 8:00pm).
- You may be required to work multiple shifts at multiple units within the same day.
- There may be required shifts to work every day of the week, including weekends, but schedules will be assigned based on availability.
- Overtime hours must be pre-approved by the unit manager.
- Summer hours available based on operational need.
- Supervise team members to maintain proper work procedure and standards according to Housing regulations and the unit's goals and job routines.
- Ensure that all team members receive instructions as to how they are to perform their assigned jobs according to the established work standards and objectives.
- Provide leadership and act as a role model while working with a diverse population of student employees.
- Utilize the Kronos timekeeping system to confirm student employees have punched in and out for their shifts.
- Keep the student labor force motivated and on task.
- During the Academic Year, participate in the implementation of the campus WiGrow student employment initiative in units.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Catering specific duties include:
- Responsible for overseeing staff during setup, service, and clean-up of catered events
- Oversee and guide staff during gathering, packing, and loading of all food and equipment for each event
- Responsible for promoting a positive work environment that reflects on a positive guest experience
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Preference given to applicants with food service experience, preferably with University Housing Dining & Culinary Service.

70 Position Summary/Job Duties:
A Dining and Culinary Services Student Shift Lead is responsible for directing dining student employees in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a respectful, productive work environment. In this position, students are expected to support dining student employees and provide training and supervision to ensure that they can excel in their tasks. During the summer months, Student Shift Leads assist with dining operations for Conference Service guests.
