      Department Overview:

      University Ridge is a public, daily fee golf course run by the University of Wisconsin Athletics Department, located just north of Verona, WI. The course traverses over 450 acres of prairie and woodlands on the ridge created by the glaciers of the last ice age. The course is a spectacular Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that has received many awards and accolades since opening in 1991. It is known as one of the best courses in the state and one of the top college courses in the country. University Ridge is the home of the Wisconsin Badger’s golf and cross-country teams and host NCAA events for both sports annually. The PGA Tour Champions American Family Championship, hosted by Steve Stricker, called the course home from 2016 to 2024, one of the biggest PGA Tour Champions events in the country. Seasonal positions offer the chance to cultivate team building and leadership skills; demonstrate work ethic and problem-solving ability; and learn to do a variety of different jobs on a daily basis.

      Schedule:

      Monday - Friday from 5:30 AM to 11:00 AM, and every third weekend 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Some additional hours may be needed for tournaments. Some flexible scheduling is possible.

      Qualifications:

      Candidates must be a student enrolled in a university or college and have a driver’s license.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      Ideal candidates will be early risers with knowledge of how the game of golf is played, possess keen attention to detail, and enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather. We are looking for people that enjoy physical activity, work well with others, and are willing to learn many different tasks.

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      A few of the daily tasks include: mowing, course set up, raking bunkers, blowing debris, filling divots, and rolling greens. Seasonal staff will also be involved in course repair and improvement projects, as well tournament preparation.

      Physical Demands:

      Candidates should have the ability to operate hand power equipment such as push-mowers and string trimmers; self-propelled walking and riding mowers; and hand tools such as rakes and shovels. Additional physical requirements include ability to lift 40 pounds, spend extended periods of time on foot, and perform repeated motions.
