Job summary
Are you a urology nurse who is passionate about providing excellent care for your patients?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, talented and dynamic nurse to join our urology team at Darent Valley Hospital. The post holder will lead on flexible cystoscopies, carry out intra - detrusor treatments, diagnostics and support therapeutic treatments.
You will be expected to manage a caseload of patients, via nurse led and rapid access clinics. The above responsibilities will be assisted by a team of urology nurses, who work closely with the urology consultants and other members of the MDT.
Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust also has a base at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, therefore it is a necessity that the successful applicant will work at both sites.
Interviews to be held week commencing 12th May 2025.
Main duties of the job
An autonomous practitioner working as a member of the Urology Team providing a comprehensive and cohesive service of the highest standard to patients/clients within Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. Providing evidence based and therapeutic care to both patients' families and carers. Being proactive in establishing new ways of working with the Consultants to manage referral rates
To lead and develop a team of Urology Specialist Nurses, in Poplar Urology Outpatients Unit and undertake clinics at Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup.
Uses specialist urological knowledge and experience to manage, develop and run nurse led urology specialist services and participate in specialist local and national projects and audits as required. Ensuring accurate and correct administration, collection and reporting of data in research trials and future projects relating to the urology service.
Acts as a professional advisor to nursing and medical staff within the Trust, local community, incorporating specialist counselling and health promotion into the role.

To maintain accurate records of the clinical service and procedures performed in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Trust and Professional medico-legal requirements
Provide the role of the Nurse Cystoscopist for bladder cancer surveillance/diagnostic cystoscopies and bladder Botox, by undertaking the appropriate training, writing training and performance guidelines and protocols and developing practice based competence aiming toward independent practice.
To provide a specialist advisory role regarding urethral and suprapubic catheterisation for patients, carers, hospital and community staff providing a catheter change service for first time suprapubic changes and difficult urethral changes by arrangement.
