- This internship will begin Spring 2024.
- Interns are expected to work part time up to 24 hrs per week.
- A schedule will be determined around the intern’s class schedule.
- Monday-Friday (8:30AM- 5:00PM)
- Supports the creation and maintenance of style guide, design systems, and branding guidelines for designs in digital spaces
- Assists in creating intuitive user experiences for mobile, web and core banking applications, based on member and business needs
- Participates in all aspects of the user experience (UX) design process for proposed digital and core banking solutions including user research, information architecture, creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes, soliciting and analyzing feedback, user testing, communicating design to developers and stakeholders, conducting design reviews
- Provides design feedback to other members of the UX team through live collaborative sessions and through digital collaboration
- Utilizes understanding of design best practices and trends, accessibility, and usability to facilitate digital solutions that are inclusive
- Performs tasks as part of a cross-functional development team using agile or other methodologies and utilizing project management software
- Continuously improves design by soliciting and analyzing member feedback from a variety of sources
- Provides content recommendations that include the correct words and sometimes complementary data and images
- Ensures online content complies with organizational brand standards, style guide, along with standards set by the Legal and Compliance Teams
- Supports the product management cycle by ensuring products meet user needs and business requirements
- Works closely with software developers to create designs that support coding best practices for security, accessibility and usability
- Coordinates content with Marketing, Communications and Information Technology teams to ensure the creation of a consistent end-to-end experience
- Maintains and evolves MSU Federal Credit Union’s content standards, including voice and tone
- Participates in training activities as directed to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws
- Performs other duties and assist other employees, as assigned
- Pursuing bachelor’s degree in graphic design, user experience, human-computer interaction, interactive media, visual design, communications, or marketing preferred
- One or more years design experience or coursework with exposure to digital, user-centered or user experience design and consumer-driven design
- Portfolio of UX-design samples or coursework showing design experience
- Experience in standard UX software such as UXPin, Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, Balsamiq, or JustInMind
- Proficient in design software such as, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- The ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and personalities including designers, software developers, quality assurance analysts, content strategists and others to complete projects
- Uses empathy, logic, and research data to inform content choices
- Prioritizes tasks to meet project deadlines
- Knowledge of best practices and principles in responsive web design, mobile design, information architecture, user research & testing, typography, iconography, accessibility, usability
- Knowledge of and proven ability to apply user experience principles to design
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to present information effectively to coworkers, management, and members
- Accurate writing and proofing abilities
- Openness to receiving feedback and constructive criticism
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and process management skills
- Ability to concurrently manage several projects and deadlines across multiple platforms
- Demonstrated interest in continuous improvement of designs, principles of design, technology advancements, and business knowledge
- Preferred knowledge of modern front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Ability to create and use consumer feedback loops to continuously improve design and solve consumer problems
- May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage
- Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
- Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
- This position is able to work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements
The UX (User Experience) Intern delivers intuitive and user-experience-driven creative concepts, visual design solutions, and impactful content for digital and core banking solutions. The User Experience (UX) Intern will help with the strategy and the execution of content across all digital channels. This position collaborates closely with the MDX team, eServices and the project stakeholders to create compelling, user-friendly, and informative experiences for the Credit Union’s members. This position assists in the development, research, testing and maintenance of design and content of all MSUFCU-owned digital and core applications, websites, online banking platforms, and other Credit Union digital presence(s) in accordance with business requirements and member needs. This role also communicates designs and projects to other designers, developers and project stakeholders.

This position is an hybrid internship at the Headquarters 2 building in East Lansing, Michigan.
Pay: $20.75/hr
