Manage CDL lead accounts; Foster stakeholder engagement and maintain relationships with project partners, as well as existing and potential sponsors/donors.
Lead efforts to recruit new ventures and facilitate their application process, including identifying promising new technologies and high-growth potential founders.
Analyze and systematically evaluate ventures to screen in those suitable for the program while screening out others.
Determine which venture applications to refer to the committee for selection.
Design and implement logistical details and activities for events and/or programming.
Promote programs and service offerings to internal and/or external contacts.
Foster and maintain a network of external contacts to build awareness and increase business potential, particularly in new venture recruitment, support, and funding.
Advise inventors on product development steps to add value to existing discoveries and enhance their commercial potential.
Promote research initiatives to increase program visibility & reputation and advise on long-term market growth and outreach strategies.
Apply and interpret policies and procedures in decision-making independently.
Coordinate tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders.
Analyze and document successes and adjustments to project implementation activities.
Implement plans and process improvements for project activities.
Analyze and recommend options for project design.
Conduct detailed data analysis to inform management decision-making.
Create and edit support documentation. Handle sensitive and/or confidential information.
Edit funding application content.
Verify funding proposals are complete, accurate and adhere to sponsor guidelines.
Disseminating information regarding funding programs and opportunities to the research community and relevant stakeholders.
Coordinate committee meetings to include agendas, minutes, and logistics.
Serve as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance.
Review and assess requirements needed to meet project timelines.
Track and/or monitor research/project activities, project accounts, milestones, and timelines.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, economics, or closely related field.
5 years of experience in program coordination, administration, or closely related field.
Knowledge of startup/technology founders and leadership teams
Strong understanding of business models and drivers of success in startups
Financial literacy and experience with fundraising and venture deals.
Highly motivated with a strong interest in business development and relationship management.
Ability to analyze and make evaluative judgements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as public speaking skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
This position may be required to work outside of standard business hours to include nights and/or weekends.
Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), engineering, science, economics, or closely related.
Experience working with startup/technology founders and leadership teams, particularly recruiting and supporting them through business acceleration programs.
Previous experience in a leadership position at an accelerator/incubator or venture fund.
Experience working as a consultant or advisor to a startup company.
Ability to analyze and systematically evaluate ventures, with a proven track record for successfully screening ventures.
Strong understanding of business models and drivers of success in startups across several verticals, particularly in the Energy and Space sectors.

We're seeking a Venture Manager to plan and direct day-to-day activities of start-ups assigned to the new CDL-Texas site. Operating at Mays Business School, CDL-Texas enhances the performance of technology start-ups by enabling their founders to learn from experienced entrepreneurs. Within its Energy stream, CDL-Texas increases the probability of a founder's success in developing transformational technologies for the energy sector in areas such as: energy diversification, renewable energy, and energy optimization.
In this, the inaugural year of CDL-TX, we are looking for an outgoing, strategic Venture Manager to recruit new ventures.
