This is routine manual work providing technical assistance to the Veterinarian involved in maintaining and improving the quality of care, health, and safety of the animals that are brought into the animal shelter.

**Salary amended 10/7/2024Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and a minimum of one year experience as a veterinary technician or assistant, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Special Requirement:
Must possess current licensure as a Veterinary Technician from the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or five years of experience as a non-licensed Veterinary Technician and the ability to obtain and certification as a Euthanasia Technician in the State of Alabama within one year of employment.

Eligibles selected for appointment must meet the established medical and physical standards for the class of work. The medical examination must be by one of the physicians designated by the Personnel Board. Appointees must bear the cost of the examination.
