- Undertake the required technical aspects as required and listed below (including interaction and support from other vibration and CFD specialists as required)
- Perform pipework design and field studies (analysis) for new or existing facilities.
- The job may include identifying and mitigating piping vibration issues across various process systems. This involves pipework vibrations screening using Energy Institute methods, field troubleshooting and field visual inspection
- The job may include finite element analysis: piping stress analysis, piping modal analysis, flow-induced (Strouhal) pulsations, water hammer (transient) analysis, fatigue analysis, small bore branch connection evaluation and others.
- The work may require use of commercial software such as ANSYS software, CAESAR II, AutoCad, Solidworks, AFT Impulse, Python, PowerBI and others. The computer modelling will also involve Wood VDN’s proprietary modelling software.
- The field troubleshooting can entail vibration and strain measurements on client sites to assist in troubleshooting and identifying sources of failures. The field portion is expected to be between 0% - 20% (in Americas).
- Display effective consultancy skills within the team in the office and on site as required. These include client engagement, problem solving, self starter, enthusiasm, effective time and project management, planning, good communications, excellent technical delivery and an enthusiastic outlook
- Prepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standards
- Implement and adhere to Wood EH&S policy at all work sites
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; other disciplines with relevant (vibration analysis) experience will be considered. Masters or PhD considered desirable.
- Although this is a junior level role, more experienced candidates with relevant industry experience will be considered.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) with the ability to speak directly to the issue, understand the client's needs and to adapt to work environment and customers’ communication style
- Experience in Engineering Consulting firm or industry experience in vibration analysis is highly desirable
- Strong interest in vibration, fatigue, integrity management, reliability, and design
- Experience using ANSYS, CAESAR II, AFT Impulse and SolidWorks (or simlar computational software). Experience in Python (or similar) and APIs is considered highly desirable.
- Ability to read P&ID, PFD, HMB, and piping isometrics is an asset, as is experience with process and hydraulic calculations
- Physically capable and willing to execute site work, which will require carrying up to 50 pounds of measurement equipment, and potentially working on elevated platforms, scaffolding or other work areas
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the desire to go the extra mile
- Must be a Canadian citizen or authorized to work lawfully in Canada, without sponsorship from Wood, with the eligibility to travel to US for training and field trips as necessary

In this role, you will gain experience with computational simulations involving flow and acoustic induced vibrations, dynamic analysis of piping and structures, stress analysis, and integrity management.
