- Teach painting courses to 9th through 12th grade students at beginner and advanced levels.
- Join a team of artists teaching a Visual Art Fundamentals course for 9th grade students.
- Support independent student work as part of our Visual Arts Studio class.
- Engage with school-wide community and activities, with the possibility of leadership opportunities and house advising.
- Collaboratively maintain and support our shared classrooms and equipment.
- Mount exhibitions of student work in school spaces.
- Occasionally substitute for Visual Art classes.
- An active visual art specialty and practice
- B.F.A. or BA required; Master’s preferred.
- 3 years teaching experience primarily at the HS levels.

Salary Range: $76,000 - $168,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.
The Dalton School, a K-12 independent, coeducational school located in Manhattan, is consistently recognized as one of the top independent day schools in the nation. It has a total enrollment of about 1,300 students and a faculty and staff of approximately 350.
The Dalton Visual Arts Department seeks a dynamic and collaborative teacher for a full-time position for the 2024-2025 school year. Based on the pedagogy outlined in The Dalton Plan, the objectives of teaching at The Dalton School include: tailoring each student's program to individual needs, interests, and abilities; promoting independence and dependability, and enhancing the student's social skills and sense of responsibility towards others. The position will primarily teach high school (but there is the possibility of working with middle schoolers as a member of a cross-divisional department,) develop curriculum in collaboration with other faculty, and offer individualized studio work with students.
