      The Vice President of Finance is responsible for performing accounting and finance-related duties on a professional level and works closely with department heads and the CEO in supporting SmartBug Media’s operations. The ideal candidate for the Vice President of Finance will have the following: agency/pro-services background, experience working with Canadian financial regulations, audit experience, public accounting experience and a keen understanding of creating departmental budgets. Experience with M&A due diligence and integration is preferred.

      Essential Functions:
      • Oversee all financial and accounting aspects of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
      • Develop and implement financial strategies to support our growth objectives.
      • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
      • Prepare for, and manage the annual audit process.
      • Oversee the monthly financial close process.
      • Maintain the Company’s capitalization table.
      • Lead on FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, and investor relations.
      • Maintain, develop and implement internal controls and risk management strategies.
      • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

      • Strong accounting (GAAP) and finance proficiency

      • Critical thinker with the ability to identify issues, analyze problems and develop solutions
      • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, vendors and other stakeholders
      • A leader who can manage/prioritize multiple tasks and motivates others through work ethic, commitment and initiative


      Required Education and Experience:
      • A bachelor’s degree and 10-15 years of accounting/finance experience.
      • Ideal candidate will have a mix of public accounting experience and professional services or digital agency experience
      • Must have experience leading an audit
      • Must have strong GAAP foundation
      • Must have strong Excel skills
      • Must have excellent communication skills across all levels of staff and with external stakeholders
      • CPA preferred
      • Experience with foreign exchange required

      $180,000 - $225,000 a year
      Combined salary plus bonus range

      Supervisory Responsibility

      This position will be responsible for managing the global finance and accounting team and their workload, which will fluctuate with area needs. The current team size is 8 professionals.


      Work Environment

      This job operates in a remote or home office environment.


      Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

      This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in schedule is allowed, but the employee must be available during typical business hours for their time zone Monday through Friday. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.


      Travel

      Regular travel on a quarterly basis to meet with the remote team is expected.
