      WARD HOUSEKEEPER - BAND 3

      PART TIME - 15 hrs per wk

      PERMANENT

      An opportunity has arisen for a Housekeeper on Aconbury 3 which is a 23 bedded renal ward.

      This important role will require you being able to work without direct supervision and respond to the changing needs of the ward on a daily basis. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the ward team; you will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities/services on the ward, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment. This role will not support direct patient care.

      This is a part time role. Ideally the candidate would work 2 days a week for 7.5 hours per day.

      Main duties of the job

      Job responsibilities

      The post holder will work as an integral part of the clinical ward / area team and to be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities / services in the ward area, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.

      The main element of the role is ensuring and supporting the delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patients needs, as determined by the ward sister / charge nurse.

      The post holder will work co-operatively with colleagues, as part of the team and perform additional duties as and when directed by the ward clinical team, to enable nursing staff to undertake direct patient care.

      Take responsibility for leading and co-ordinating the domestic staff on a day to day basis.

      Ensure the ward is tidy and clutter free throughout, and that doors to non -patient areas remain closed at all times.

      Carry out Ward Audits, monitoring of quality standards, develop action plan and track progress as required.

      Responsible for utilising the Trusts I-Procurement solution to raise requisitions, deliveries and resolve notifications in line with the Trusts procurement policy.

      Ensure that patients are provided with an ad hoc beverage service and assist as appropriate including collection, preparation and distribution of water jugs and glasses.

      Comply with requirements of Food Hygiene, Health and Safety legislation and local guidelines including the strict control of temperature at food is stored.

      Ensure that protected mealtimes for patients are encouraged and adhered to.

      Work with the ward teams to prepare patients to receive their food, prepare table / dining area, enabling patients to wash their hands and ensuring there is adequate and appropriate cutlery, and that the patient can reach the meal.
