      As a Wastewater Operator, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in Wilsonville, OR, you’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant including maintenance of equipment and quality control testing. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent, observe variations in operating conditions, and interpret meter and gauge readings. You’ll also collect samples, maintain shift logs and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      • Diagnoses operating problems; directs and performs necessary corrective action during work shift
      • Reads gauges and meters, starts and stops equipment, and operates valves to route and control flow, makes process control adjustments, determines and sets proper chemical dosage and flow rates, and operates PLCs and SCADA systems
      • Complies and reports non-compliance with OMI and Project Policies and Procedures
      • Prepares required reports and maintains complete record keeping procedures
      • Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses on industrial discharges, plant influent, process, effluent and biosolids
      • Processes, hauls, and applies biosolids in accordance with plant schedules and regulatory requirements
      • Makes entries in plant logs
      • Conducts meetings and training sessions pertaining to safety, process control, etc
      • Makes operating decisions in the absence of supervisory personnel
      • Maintains discipline and ensures proper procedures are followed
      • Assists in the interviewing of prospective employees
      • Gives instructions and assignments to plant operators
      • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
      • Performs other duties as required

      • High school diploma or GED
      • Three years experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants
      • Possess a valid driver’s license

      Ideally you'll also have:

      • Certification at a level required by the State in which the project is located
      • Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations; operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical sewage analyses; effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes; safe work practices
      • Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems

      Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
      The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
