07/10/2024 - Conduct regular audits and assessments of the district's website to ensure compliance with relevant federal and state laws, including but not limited to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Utilize specialized digital tools and methodologies to test the accessibility of web content, including websites, applications, and digital documents.
- Monitor website performance and identify areas for improvement. Identify and resolve accessibility problems to avoid state fines assessed for each infraction.
- Provide training and guidance to website administrators, content creators, and other relevant staff on accessibility principles, techniques, and tools. Raise awareness about the importance of web accessibility within the school district and the financial consequences if 27J is out of compliance.
- Work closely with department and school web managers and content creators to address accessibility issues and implement best practices to keep content compliant and to improve the usability and accessibility of websites. Provide technical support and guidance as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of accessibility testing results, remediation efforts, and compliance documentation. Generate regular reports for stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and areas for improvement. Use results data to make improvements across the system.
- Provide technical support and guidance to ensure the smooth operation of the design and content of the district's website, addressing problems promptly and effectively.
- Troubleshoot technical problems, provide updates and optimize website performance to ensure accessibility and functionality for all users.
- Support web managers to update web information, support design of new pages, conduct training for school/department web contacts, resolve problems and escalate appropriate issues to website platform provider as necessary.
- Provide technical assistance and training to staff to effectively use the two-way classroom chat platform to connect with all families, primarily those that are non- or limited English-speaking. Assist with program setup and configuration, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide ongoing support to ensure staff feel confident using the platform.
- Accessibility Policy Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance with web accessibility laws, regulations and expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in web design using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript web development using XSL, XSLT, JavaScript and JQuery, use of content management systems.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, or web development.
- Advanced degree or certification in web accessibility or related field preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of web accessibility standards and guidelines.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
- Demonstrated understanding of how coding frameworks interact in an accessibility context.
- Ability to apply development and design skills to accessibility.
- Proven experience in web accessibility testing and remediation, preferably in a public sector or educational setting.
- Experience working with common software and operating systems. SALARY: Admin/Professional/Technical - Range 5, $6,438.38/month (equates to $77,264.00 annually) to start, depending on recent relevant experience. 8 hours per day on the 5-day, 12-month work schedule. Position is eligible for benefits.
