Please note this is a permanent part time role working every Saturday - 09:00 till 17:00 (Hours will vary depending on workload).

Applicants will need to be available Monday to Friday for first few weeks for training.

• Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis.
• Sample preparation in line with company protocols.
• Microbiological analysis of food, feed and swabs samples in line with company protocols (Basic Techniques include dilution series, streaking and sub culturing).
• Operation of relevant equipment.
• General housekeeping of laboratory.
• Sample collections from client premises, as and when required.
• Accurate Data entry into laboratory database.
• Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system.
• Effective communication with all employees.
• Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory manager.
• Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory.
• Any other additional duties as required.

• The right applicants will be able to work within a small team as well as liaise and communicate effectively with other departments within the business.
• GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent.
• A-Levels in a science discipline or on a scientific degree pathway.
• Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications
• Comfortable working in a busy laboratory environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately.

It will be of desirable to have:

• Knowledge of laboratory accreditation systems (ideally ISO 17025)
• Full Clean Driving Licence
