      Reuters is looking for an exceptional editor to lead its White House team and drive coverage of some of the world's biggest stories. The editor will have a record of strong coverage, ranging from breaking news to scoop-driven beat coverage to deeper investigative work. Experience covering major stories and a deep understanding of U.S. policy and politics are essential.

      The editor will lead a team of White House reporters, working closely with reporters to develop sources and break news in covering the Trump administration, its personalities and its policies, ranging from proposed tax cuts and mass deportations to oil drilling and Trump’s attempts to cut peace deals in Ukraine and the Middle East.

      About the Role

      In this opportunity as White House Editor, you will:

      • Lead the White House news file to ensure it meets Reuters standards for accuracy, speed and impartiality
      • Plan, develop and deliver ambitious stories on the Trump administration and its policies with a focus on beat and source development
      • Work closely with other editors and reporting teams to put Reuters ahead on key stories; collaboration skills and mindset a must

      About You

      You're a fit for the role of White House Editor, if your background includes:

      • At least 10 years of experience in journalism
      • A track record of running successful reporting teams that develop sources and break news
      • Experience running or working on short-term or long-term investigative coverage

      Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $146,790 - $272,610. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
