      Department Overview:

      The Office of Student Transition and Family Engagement (OSTFE) prides itself on welcoming and supporting new first-year students, transfers, and families to the Badger community. Throughout our programs and daily work, we embrace our core values: Inclusion, Education, Integrity, and Collaboration. OSTFE houses Wisconsin Welcome, which hosts 500+ events each year designed for all incoming first-year and transfer students.
      The Wisconsin Welcome Intern will work to assist in the planning, implementation, and marketing of Wisconsin Welcome. This person will work collaboratively with many professional campus partners, staff members, and students. They will also have a large role in recruitment, training, and logistics of the Badger Buddy program. (See Job Duties for More)

      Anticipated Hours Per Week:

      Minimum: 20 Maximum: Up to 25/30 depending on week

      Schedule:

      ● Start for brief trainings – as available early May
      ● Mid-May/June/July/early August 2025: Internship (20 hrs/week)
      ● August 11th - September 12th, 2025 (Peak Wisconsin Welcome Programming): 25 hrs/week
      ● End Date – Sept 12th, 2025

      Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

      Qualifications:

      ● Full-time student status for the fall ‘25 semester
      ● Good academic and non-academic standing with the University at the time of application, hire, and employment. (OSTFE retains the right to check academic and non-academic misconduct throughout hiring and employment)
      ● Ability to work on all of the dates listed in the “Work Schedule” section of the application
      ● Additional major commitments cannot conflict with required staffing dates and must be disclosed to the supervisor prior to accepting the employment offer

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      The hired intern will serve in a leadership role in the Badger Buddy Program and Wisconsin Welcome programming. The responsibilities for the respective roles will include:

      Badger Buddy Program:
      The Badger Buddy Program is a volunteer program in which student leaders welcome new students and help specifically with housing Move-in and Wisconsin Welcome events. As a newly revamped program, last year, we supported 100+ Badger Buddies.
      ● Badger Buddy Logistics (60%)
      ○ Monitor and track volunteer sign up and involvement using spreadsheets and other tracking systems
      ○ Work collaboratively with a housing representative to create a comprehensive schedule for Badger Buddies
      ○ Send and schedule consistent reminder emails to Badger Buddies while managing shared inbox
      ● Recruitment and Position Development (30%)
      ○ Create communications to attract and retain volunteers and community partners
      ○ Organize and oversee the application process and materials
      ○ Establish campus connections and identify various campus communities to promote the position
      ● Training (10%)
      ○ Design and co-lead a training session to promote each Badger Buddy’s success

      Wisconsin Welcome General Programs:
      ● Assist in planning logistics for certain events and be an event leader
      ● Facilitate outreach and promotion of WI Welcome to students, campus, and the local Madison area
      ● Contribute to the design and creation of the annual WI Welcome app
      ● Serve as student representative on the WI Welcome Planning Committee
      ● Enhance the experiences of new students and families through positive interactions at events

      Physical Demands:

      Can lift 25 pounds preferred (not required)
