      Position Summary:

      The WOCN provides the advanced knowledge, expertise and clinical skills necessary to promote expert nursing care in the field of wound, ostomy, and incontinence. To promote advanced wound, ostomy, and incontinence care, evidence-based practice and evaluation of patient care outcomes. To address the physical, emotional and social issues of patients with ostomies, stomas, acute and chronic wounds, and urinary and fecal incontinence. To educate patients, families, staff, students and participate in preceptorship for new WOCN students, nursing students, and staff.

      Position Requirements:

      Education:

      Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; MSN preferred

      Graduate of a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school of nursing (preferred)

      Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university required

      Licensure and Certifications:

      • Current Colorado RN License
      • CWOCN required.
      • Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association
      Essential Functions:
      • Provide leadership and education in wound, ostomy, and incontinence care.
      • Provide consultative services to inpatient nursing staff, medical staff and patients for wound, ostomy, continence needs.
      • Coordinate the skin committee to develop an interdisciplinary pressure ulcer prevention and treatment clinical pathway
      • Assist Clinical Nurse Coordinators with ordering mattresses for discharging patients as needed.
      • Evaluate wound, ostomy, and continence products to develop and maintain an adequate but simplified advanced product inventory for inpatients.
      • Coordinate and participate in weekly skin rounds on the inpatient units
      • Coordinate and participate in staff development related to wound, ostomy and continence.
      • Participate in evaluation of staff compliance with skin care protocols
      • Collaborate with the Director of Quality Management, Nursing Leadership, and the interdisciplinary skin committee on CQI project to monitor/reduce the occurrence of hospital acquired pressure ulcers as well as other wound, ostomy, continence related topics.
      • Education of WOCN students, nursing students, staff, and physicians.
      • Provide leadership in completing quarterly NDNQI pressure ulcer prevalence surveys and assist in analysis and dissemination of data.
      • Promotes a culture of inquiry and mentoring for Quality Improvement, Evidence-based Practice and Research activities.

      Employees who are not benefit eligible due to working less than 24 hours/ week or being Per-Diem are able to participate in Craig Hospital’s 403B Retirement plan through Empower Retirement.       $38.77/ Hour - $55.84/ Hour + 18% Per-Diem Differential
