      Job Title: Resident Assistant

      Purpose of position: Assist in fulfilling CSU Mission, Vision and Goals. Provide student with opportunity to receive experience related to educational or career objective. Prepare future graduate with integrity who are critical thinkers, skillful communicators and effective collaborators positioned to perform responsible roles in society.

      Duties: The following duties are needed for this position and they are intended to provide students with experience related to their educational and/or career objective:

      As a leader on campus, RAs will be expected to perform the following duties:

      • Foster a meaningful and caring community within the hall
      • Host monthly hall meetings to share important information with residents
      • Create and plan events for residents that support and represent the Residence Life curriculum
      • Conduct monthly room inspections for each room in the hall
      • Mediate roommate conflicts and offer solutions
      • Serve “on duty” once weekly and select weekends
        1. Duty night responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:
          • Attend Duty Meetings with Residence Life Coordinator (RLC)
          • Respond to incidents as needed by residents and RLC
          • Nightly walkthroughs of building
          • Work check-in for Open House, as needed.
          • Communicate with RLC about resident needs, incidents, maintenance issues, etc.
      • Work move-in weekends helping students get checked in and moved into their rooms
      • Enforce the CSU student handbook policies and uphold the standards of the university
      • Help with maintenance escorts, when needed.
      • Assist with Residence Life events, programs, and office functions
      • Other duties as assigned

      Rate of pay (Pay Scale Guide):

      $ /Hour paid on the 15th of the month following the month when the work was

      performed (e.g. work performed in June, is paid on July 15)

      Schedule : If offered work-study employment, supervisors will coordinate work hours based on the student’s class schedule. Students are not permitted to work during chapel or during regularly scheduled class time (even if the class is canceled for some reason).

      Evaluation Procedures : Students will be evaluated on their work performance, which includes their ability to follow instructions and to complete work without errors. Students are expected to be punctual and to contact their supervisor if they are late or unable to come to work. Cell phones should be placed on silent while in the workplace and students should only use their cell phones in emergencies.
