WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Workforce Development Specialist performs complex (journey-level) employment work. Work involves conducting interviews to assess client needs, disseminating information and facilitating access to workforce development programs, and providing employment counseling services. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
-Disseminates information regarding Workforce Development Services, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T), Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), Child Care and Development, Job Corps, Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) , Unemployment Insurance (UI), and supportive services.
-Provide assistance to clients with applications for employment, ensuring completeness, and with job searches, resume preparation, and other related activities.
-Interview clients to assess and record information regarding training needs, education, experience, skills, interest, and other relevant factors to determine client's career development opportunities and eligibility of benefits.
-May counsel clients who have complex job placement or job adjustment challenges. Maintains case management records.
-Provide assistance to employers in establishing accounts, using job matching system, and amending job posting information.
-Determine employers' job requirements, matches clients to current job opening, and refers qualified clients.
-Contact employers to discuss ways to improve services and meet labor market needs more effectively.
-Verifie satisfactory placement of clients with employers.
-Provide statistical information.
-May assist in hiring events, such as job fairs.
-Assist in developing the marketing, instructional, or training materials to distribute to internal and external clients.
-May conduct presentations to explain employment programs and services, to include training and education for Workforce Development Team.
-Attend and participates in assigned Workforce Center's team meetings, assigned program meetings, townhalls, etc.
-Successfully completes of all assigned industry specialization trainings.
-Performs related work as assigned.
YOU QUALIFY WITH:
-Three year of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing or counseling; instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; direct social work; eligibility determination; customer service; or workforce development issues and programs.
-Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of experience.

-Ability to identify the needs, strengths and weaknesses of others.
-Ability to use tact, and diplomacy when providing suggestions to customers.
-Ability to extract information from a computer system and a wide variety of written materials such as forms, resource lists and case records.
-Ability to interpret data on a computer system.
-Ability to resolve problems.
-Ability to set priorities and organize workloads to meet deadlines.
-Ability to communicate policies and procedures to employees.
-Ability to observe employee performance and record observations.
-Ability to coordinate, organize and facilitate group sessions.
-Ability to train others.
